With Crystalline I wanted to encompass the idea of both being bound and being free. That’s what this album feels like - a leap toward clarity, that is bound up in tiny pieces of consciousness that grew together to make a whole. Crystalline is clear, but also varied in tone and color, it is rich, it is a question as much as a statement or an answer, solid as much as transparent and much like our lives perhaps it is difficult to pin down, as I have shifted through the past two years of living through pain, longing, sweetness, and hope. It is also an ode to the folk guitarists that have generally been my guiding lights - Bert Jansch, John Fahey, Elizabeth Cotton, Joni Mitchell, and Nick Drake. We are fabric and it is through song that I come to see how we are one. I hope you enjoy Crystalline as a clear light from my soul.
